Happy and Childless was initiated in 2017 to offer support to childless not by choice men and women.. 1 in 5 people are childless of which 90% are childless not by choice. It can be an extremely isolating place to be when working within pronatalist environments with little recognition and support. In order for employees to thrive within their roles of emploment it is imperative that such a prevalent issue as childlessness not by choice is included within Diversity, Equity and Inclusion discussions. Happy & Childless offers support to both Employer and Employee by raising awareness, offering consultancy and providing specialist coaching support working directly with management and their workforce or through Employee Assisted Programmes
Having worked in corporate sales and senior management roles over the last 25 years, I know all too well the challenges faced by being childless not by choice in a pronatalist environment. I also, however, understand the pressures of managing a business and driving results which is highly dependent on a committed, focused and happy team working within a safe and inclusive environment. Employee retention is essential to avoid disruption, increased training costs and to ensure customer satisfaction and in turn a profitable business.
Childless employees are highly valuable assets who have often committed hours of service to organisations but unfortunately and in many cases are unintentionally excluded and discrminated against.
Through personal experience and through successfully navigating my way through the challenges, I am fully commited to offering support and coaching to both employees and employers with the aim of creating an inclusive, supportive, and thriving work environment for those childless not by choice and in turn a committed, focused and confident workforce.
Below are some examples of how businesses can support their childless not by choice employees
